Check Your Voter Registration Status
North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) provides a Voter Search tool to check registration status, also known as the “voter lookup”. With this online tool, you will be able to find publicly available information, including:
- Voter registration status
- Election Day polling place
- Sample ballots for upcoming elections
- Voting districts
- Past elections a voter participated in (voter history)
Register to Vote
Who can register to vote?
To register to vote in North Carolina, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Live in the county where you are registering, and have resided there for at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
- Be at least 18 years old, or will be by the date of the general election.
16- and 17-year-olds may preregister to vote.
A college or university student may register and vote in the county where they go to school. - Not be serving a felony sentence, including any period of probation, post-release supervision, or parole.
Register Online or in person at the DMV
You can use N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) services to register as a voter. Existing DMV customers may submit a voter registration application online.
