The Margin of Victory Empowerment Fund is to encourage civic engagement by Asian Americans, promote Asian American voices at all levels of our government, and support candidates who champion our interests in the federal, state and local elections. United, we strive to be the margin of victory in North Carolina and beyond, working together towards a more inclusive society with opportunities for all.
Why MOVENC PAC?
We are Asian Americans. We call the United States our home. Many of us have lived here for decades if not generations. We worked at our jobs, raised families, and ran businesses serving our communities. However, for too long, Asian Americans have been invisible in American society. We are underrepresented in our government and voiceless in major policy decisions.
We envision a United States that embraces inclusivity and opportunities for all people. To accomplish this goal, MOVENC PAC will actively encourage civic engagement of the Asian American communities, facilitate direct dialogue with politicians and government officials, and advocate for policies that protect civil rights, expand Asian representation and leadership, and promote opportunities for all Americans.
The need for a political action committee (PAC) dedicated to Asian American empowerment has become urgent as we see an escalation of Asian hate incidences in recent years and the continuous struggle of invisibility, marginalizing our second generation born and raised in the U.S. as well as our future generations. It’s our responsibility to shatter the prejudice against Asian Americans and contribute to a society that is more equal and inclusive, allowing individuals to fulfill their highest potential.
MOVENC PAC is a direct response to the Asian American political awakening in recent years. Asian American voter turnout has steadily increased in recent years, reaching a historic high of nearly 60% in 2020. North Carolina is one of the top states to see the fastest increases in Asian American population, voter registration, and turnout. Across communities in NC, Asian Americans have successfully launched political fundraising events, campaigned for candidates, and elected Asian American representatives to City Councils, School Boards, County Boards of Commissioners, and NC State House of Representatives.
MOVENC PAC aims to establish a political platform for Asian Americans to solidify our efforts to encourage political participation, develop leadership, promote candidates and policies that serve our long-term interests, and amplify our voting power. In the battleground state of North Carolina and beyond, we can transform our marginalized community into an electorate that will be the margin of victory.
Please join us in the Margin of Victory Empowerment NC Political Action Committee (MOVENC PAC). United, we can. Together, we will.
