Josh Stein
We are honored to announce that MOVENC PAC proudly endorses Josh Stein for Governor of North Carolina. After careful consideration of his commitment to diversity, equity, and justice, as outlined in his recent statement to our questionnaire for candidates, we believe that Josh Stein is the best candidate to lead our state forward.
Josh Stein’s dedication to uplifting marginalized communities, including Asian American North Carolinians, resonates deeply with our organization’s mission. His pledge to prioritize diversity in government by building a cabinet and staff that reflects the full diversity of our state demonstrates his commitment to inclusion and representation.
We commend Josh Stein’s strong stance against hate crimes and his advocacy for legislation to expand protections and support for victims. His comprehensive approach to addressing issues such as education funding, small business support, healthcare access, and discrimination aligns with our priorities for a more equitable North Carolina.
When asked about his perspective on discriminatory property and land laws in states such as Texas, Missouri, and Florida, especially laws like Florida’s SB 264 and SB 846 enacted in 2023, which have had a significantly negative impact on the Chinese community, Stein said “while legislation such as Florida’s SB 264 and SB 846 has not presented itself in North Carolina yet to my knowledge, I will remain just as committed to ensuring our laws do not unfairly single out one community“.
As we move forward towards the gubernatorial election, MOVENC PAC urges all voters to join us in supporting Josh Stein for Governor. Together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more inclusive North Carolina for all residents.
Jeff Jackson
MOVENC PAC proudly endorses Jeff Jackson for North Carolina Attorney General. Jackson is committed to combating hate crimes and discrimination against the AAPI community, promising to use the office as a platform to condemn such acts and prevent divisive culture wars. His office will emphasize transparency and engagement, pledging to regularly meet with the AAPI community, attend events, and ensure our concerns are addressed in policy decisions. Jackson also prioritizes proactive outreach through the Consumer Protection Division to ensure under-served communities understand their rights.
On language access, Jackson plans to work with state agencies to make legal and government services more accessible to non-native English speakers and those with impairments, particularly in resolving consumer protection cases. He and his office will protect the civil rights of AAPI immigrants, ensuring they have access to competent legal representation and defending DACA, which affects over 20,000 recipients in North Carolina.
To promote inclusivity, Jackson will use use the bully pulpit of the office and every lever available to NCDOJ to increase awareness and reject prejudice and harassment including enforcing anti-bullying laws – including cyber-bullying. His office will work closely with local education authorities to ensure that incidents of bullying and harassment are taken seriously and addressed promptly.
They also plan to ensure law enforcement is properly trained in cultural sensitivity, using the NC Justice Academy to update policing practices based on recommendations from the Task Force for Racial Equity in Criminal Justice.
Jackson commits to working with AAPI organizations like MOVENC to better serve the community and ensure our voices are heard and protected throughout North Carolina.

She actively engaged with the Asian American community through participation in various forums, cultural events, and meetings with AANHPI groups. Grafstein opposes discriminatory property laws and supports legislation that protects against anti-Asian hate and promotes social justice.
In education, Grafstein supports initiatives to address disparities, including language access, bilingual education, and the inclusion of Asian American history in the K-12 curriculum. Economic empowerment is also a priority, with a focus on providing culturally competent support for Asian American-owned businesses and addressing discrimination. In healthcare, Grafstein advocates for improved access to culturally competent care and the recruitment of diverse healthcare providers.

They are committed to continuing their advocacy for equal opportunity and full inclusion of all communities, including the growing Asian American population in NC district 13.
Nicole Sidman
MOVENC PAC proudly endorses Nicole Sidman for NC House District 105. Sidman has actively engaged with Asian American communities and emphasizes the importance of recognizing their diversity, advocating for engagement with both larger AAPI coalitions and individual ethnic groups. Sidman’s policy positions include promoting language access and cultural competence training in education, supporting Asian American history in schools, fostering economic opportunities through outreach, and ensuring access to culturally competent healthcare. Additionally, she focuses on protecting voting rights through nonpartisan redistricting and improved language access.
